Sonic Sea Movie Screening and Discussion with Film Makers

Join the BC Cetacean Sightings Network for a screening of the Emmy award-winning documentary, Sonic Sea, which investigates the devastating impact of industrial and military ocean noise on whales and other marine life. Meet the producer, Michael Jasny, a leading expert in the law and policy of ocean noise pollution who has worked internationally to improve regulation of this emergent global problem. Following the screening, Orla Robinson from the Port of Vancouver will discuss the results of the ECHO program's Vessel Slowdown Trial in Haro Strait, which studied the relationship of vessel speed and underwater noise to reduce impacts on whales.
