Earth Day is Wednesday, April 22. Staff at the Ecology Action Centre, to mark the occasion, will share aspects of their ongoing work to protect the environment, nature, and coastlines in Nova Scotia.

Join us online between 1-3 pm for four presentations celebrating our shared environment and the role we can all play to protect it.

Speakers:

1:00pm   Urban Wilderness
Karen McKendry: EAC’s Wilderness Outreach Coordinator will discuss the threats and opportunities for three big, wild spaces around urban Halifax, and why we need time in nature more than ever. 

1:30pm    Coastal Protection
Nancy Anningston:  EAC’s Coastal Adaptation Senior Coordinator will share a brief overview of the work of the EAC’s Coastal Team as we protect our coastline, inform citizens about coastal climate change and influence decision-makers on advancing a coastal adaptation strategy for Nova Scotia.

2:00pm   Energy Efficiency
Ben Grieder:  EAC's Efficiency Project Coordinator will explain the growing Energy Efficiency industry in Canada and the role we can all play in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

2:30pm    Climate Goals
Meghan McMorris: EAC's Community Energy Coordinator, will share why Nova Scotia is well poised to take the lessons of COVID-19 and reignite the economy while deeply valuing and preserving the environment.
