Nicholas Caruso is currently a Research Scientist in the Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, USA, where he works with Dr. Carola Haas.  He received a B.A. in Biology from Saint Louis University, and an M.Sc. in Biology from The University of Maryland, College Park, under the mentorship of Dr. Karen Lips.  He received his Ph.D. at The University of Alabama, where he was advised by Drs. Leslie Rissler and Christina Staudhammer.  Nick’s research focuses on quantitative population biology and conservation of amphibians and reptiles and he currently works with both Appalachian salamanders and herpetofauna in the Floridan panhandle. He has also written popular science books including the New York Times bestselling book Does it Fart? as well as True or Poo? and Believe it or Snot.
