Join us Friday, May 22 at 9:00 am MST for our next virtual “Coffee Chat” featuring three young climate activists and entrepreneurs from our Youth Congress for Sustainable Americas. This week’s conversation will focus on how climate action and sustainability efforts are shifting and adapting to COVID-19 and the implications for future strategy and climate policy.

Panelist Bios:

Cyrielle Noël

Cyrielle Noël is a Local Pathways Fellow and works for Ocean Wise as a Program Specialist. Being born and raised on the river island of Tiohtiá:ke (Montréal), Cyrielle is described as a thalassophile who believes that spatial challenges can be mediation through careful observation and understanding of the reciprocal relationship between humans and the environment.

Cyrielle studied International Development at McGill University. Her research was focused on sustainable development and climate change issues particularly relevant to Small Island Developing States (SIDS). As a recipient of a full Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, she graduated with merit from Radboud University with a Masters of Science in Urban and Regional Planning and from Cardiff University with a Master of Science in European Spatial Planning and Environmental Policy. In her thesis, she explored the scope for closer integration between marine spatial planning and coastal zone management practices within the context of promoting sustainable development.

Cyrielle moonlights as a social entrepreneur and utilizes this vocation to explore solutions to global wicked problems. She is the founder of Eau-Dacité: which initiates projects, programs, and events related to ocean literacy and waterway conservation. In her free time, Cyrielle enjoys connecting to nature by recreating outdoors through activities such as: snowboarding, caving, and fishing.

Monica Ramos

Monica Ramos is one of the Youth Congress for Sustainable Americas founding Delegates and a Global Shaper since 2017.

In the Covid-19 crisis, she is working together with Universidad Continental in Peru to provide knowledge and tools to tradicional entrepreneurs to enable them to face the current crisis and adapt to the "new" normal.

Moreover, she is the founder of Resto-Zero, a social enterprise working with researchers and small coffee farmers in Peru to increase their income through the upcycling of their byproducts. Previous to Resto-Zero, she worked at Xrunner, a social enterprise providing a sustainable sanitation service to households with no access to the sewage system in Lima, Peru.

In 2016, she obtained a MSc degree on Environmental Sciences from Technische Universität Hamburg-Harburg (TUHH), Aalborg Universitet (AAU), Universidade de Aveiro (UA), Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). During her studies, she was part of research projects related to the Circular Economy in China and Denmark.

Previous to "her change of heart to a greener one" she worked for Belcorp as a Sales Analyst for LATAM and Commercial Planner for the Brazilian Market (2013 - 2014) and for Siemens as SITRAIN and SCE program Coordinator for Peru (2011-2012). She graduated as an Industrial Engineer in 2011 from Lima University (UL).

Victor Rujano Bautista

Victor is a Venezuelan lawyer, passionate about environmental law and social entrepreneurship. Based in Maracaibo city, he is the current director of CIMAS (@cimasorg) a non-profit organization aiming to promote and defend Indigenous People’s rights and the right to a safe environment in Venezuela. In 2017, he was chosen to participate in the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) Professional Fellowship Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, which reunites top business and social entrepreneurs from across the Americas. Now as an alumnus, he became a member of the board of directors of the State Alumni Venezuela, Chapter Zulia, joining forces with other Venezuelan professionals in order to promote impactful activities regarding human rights, environment, education, culture, entrepreneurship and to strengthen the friendship ties between the United States of America and Venezuela. Finally, he was chosen in 2018 as a Delegate of the Youth Congress for Sustainable Americas, an initiative of the Biennial of the Americas organization, based in Denver, Colorado, United States, which unites social leaders from the hemisphere working on sustainability projects in order to build networks towards national and regional initiatives to address the causes of climate change and raise awareness about the changes needed to protect our nature.

Conor Hall
Conor hails from the mountains of Southwest Colorado. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Earlham College in 2013 with a degree in Politics. He spent the last for years in the administration of Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper serving in a number of roles including Manger of Special Initiatives, Director of External Affairs and Senior Advisor to the Governor. He recently joined The Trust for Public Land as the Director of Conservation Strategies & Policy Advocacy for the West. He is an avid outdoorsman and serves on the boards of First Descents and Stand for Courage.
