Climate Sentinels is a team of four young female scientists, all polar experts, preparing for an expedition to Svalbard next April. They come from Norway, Sweden, France, and the US. In April 2021, they will conduct an expedition that will redefine how science is done in the Arctic. We want to prove that science can be more eco-friendly, that science can be more accessible, and that we, the scientists must work with the youth. The goal is to ski more than 450 km (280 mi) to collect information on how atmospheric pollution from further south can affect the melting of the Arctic. Dr. Heïdi Sevestre is a Glaciologist and International Fellow of the Explorers Club. After many years of work in the polar regions and high altitude environments, Heïdi is now making climate science more accessible, exciting, and inclusive.
