The COVID-19 crisis has brought into sharp focus the underlying financing and resourcing challenges facing protected and conserved areas around the world.

In this light, as part of "Vital Sites: our Journey to Marseille", a series of online events leading up to the IUCN World Conservation Congress, IUCN and its partners are pleased to present Payment for Ecosystem Services as part of the series 'Closing the Gap: Financing and Resourcing of Protected and Conserved Areas'.

This event is designed to support wildlife conservation and management authorities, non-governmental and community-based organisations in the region to be informed of and learn from real-life experiences of innovative financing mechanisms as a means to increase revenue and improve management efficiency.
