Join us for our third virtual coffee house with Mi'kmaw knowledge holder Skyler Jeddore and Evelien VanderKleot from the Ocean Tracking Network.

Unama’ki Institute of Natural Resources and the Ocean Tracking Network are working collaboratively on a project called Apoqnmatulti’k. It is a three-year collaborative study that looks at the health and resilience of fish and other aquatic species in Mi’kma’ki.

Building on the strengths of Mi’kmaq, local and western knowledge, tracking programs are being designed and executed to document the movements and habitat use of Jakej (American Lobster), Katew (American eel) and Punamuiku (Atlantic TomCod). Skyler’s research focuses on aquatic species tracking in the Bras d’Or Lake.
