Rosamira is a Colombian landscape architect and environmental designer-turned-conservationist. She cofounded and is now executive director of Fundación Proyecto Tití, an organization dedicated to the protection and conservation of one of Colombia’s most endangered native primate species: the cotton-top tamarin. Cotton-top tamarins are one-pound monkeys, only found in the tropical forests of northwest Colombia in South America. They are severely threatened by deforestation and by their capture for the illegal pet trade of wildlife species. Proyecto Tití combines field research and forest protection / restoration with environmental education and community development to reduce the use and exploitation of forest resources for subsistence by local communities. Rosmira has made it her mission to secure a future for these cute, crazy-hair little primates.
