Learn how to tie a bowline knot, make a pinecone bird feeder, and share nature photos for science! In this virtual nature workshop for grade 6-12 students at school or home, participants will learn how to find and identify a wide variety of plants, insects and animals using interactive species ID apps and field guides in their own community. Participants have the option to contribute outdoor nature observations with their family following the training by exploring backyards, parks, or other areas near home and sharing observations—such as bird counts and plant photos—to online databases for citizen science. Students will explore local data with online maps and research connections between climate change and biodiversity.
