Join lemur research scientist Sally Bornbusch to learn how studying bacteria can help us keep lemurs healthy! Animals (including humans) have millions of bacteria living in their guts and these communities are called gut microbiomes. The majority of these bacteria are helpful; they help digest food, fight off diseases, and even control behavior. Sally will be talking about how studying these bacteria in lemurs can help us better understand lemurs and keep lemurs happy and healthy. She'll be focusing on lemur gut microbiomes how we can use poop soup (fecal transplant) to help lemurs maintain a good gut microbiome.
