Indigenous Peoples have cared for lands and waters for millennia. Today, Indigenous Nations are providing innovative solutions to climate change, loss of biodiversity and sustainable development. The Elders say: “If we take care of the land, the land will take care of us.”

Meanwhile, in poll after poll, non-Indigenous Canadians express a strong commitment to conserving nature. Stewardship is a shared value. It can bring people together. And it will strengthen this country.

When Indigenous Nations and Canada work together to advance Indigenous Guardians programs and Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas, everyone benefits. Indigenous Nations become stronger. Regional economies expand. International conservation commitments are honoured. And respect, equity and reconciliation become integrated into the foundations of Canada.

Join us for a conversation exploring the role of Indigenous-led conservation in creating a brighter future for Canada.
