Just like on land ecosystems, there is a carbon and oxygen cycle in our oceans! Climate change is is starting to alter these cycles in a way that will have a large impact on marine organisms that depend on them. Join Debby, a sea-going oceanographer and a numerical modeller, who combines expedition work with powerful models to predict how these cycles will continue to change. Debby began her academic career at a tiny elementary school in rural Ontario, eventually obtaining a doctorate at the University of British Columbia. She is a federal research scientist at the Institute of Ocean Sciences in Sidney BC and an Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University and the University of Victoria. Debby was also a member of the West Coast Ocean Acidification and Hypoxia Panel convened by the California Ocean Science Trust.
