Join The Nature Conservancy and its partners in the Green Ribbon Initiative in a celebration of the region’s rare Oak Openings habitat during Blue Week, scheduled for May 10-16.
This globally unique region is home to a wide variety of blue plants and animals, such as wild blue lupine, Karner blue butterflies, blue spotted salamanders, big and little bluestem, blueberries, bluebirds and more.
The week-long celebration features family-friendly events, activities, workshops, lectures, tours, and stewardship opportunities across Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. Virtual and in-person events, as well as some self-guided options are offered.
Activities will take place at The Nature Conservancy’s Kitty Todd Preserve and other sites throughout the region, such as Oak Openings Metropark, Irwin Prairie State Nature Preserve, Secor Metropark, Tomahawk Archers and more.

- Guided or Self-Guided Hikes
- Native Plant Sale
- Scavenger Hunt
- Listening for Bats
- Archery
