Join Mia as she shares some of her experiences studying birds in the field, the importance of birds to humans and the conservation of Arctic migratory birds.
Dr. Mia Rönkä She is an ecologist, science editor and journalist, writer and poet. She's an Adjunct Professor of Environmental Ecology at the Biodiversity Unit of the University of Turku, Finland. She's the Chair of the Conservation of Arctic Flora and Fauna Working Group (CAFF) of the Arctic Council. Mia is also the Chair of the Circumpolar Seabird Expert Group (CBird) under CAFF. The leading interest that guides her work - in CAFF and as a scientist, journalist, writer and artist - is the relationship between humans, other species and the environment. She has explored this theme in interdisciplinary research, on the science - art interface and in communications and teaching.
