Dr. Christine Stortini grew up on an island in northern Ontario surrounded by the cold, clean, and lively Lake Superior. She always had a passion for being in the water. When she learned about some of the perils facing our world’s Ocean in her teenage years, she decided to become a marine biologist. She moved from Ontario to Nova Scotia to undertake a degree in Marine Biology at Dalhousie University. Through school and professional work, she has been able to work with sea turtles, sea birds, and on projects related to marine protected areas, ecosystem structure, and climate change. She is now working for Canada’s Department of Fisheries and Oceans, while also following her passion for connecting others to the Ocean by running Ocean education programs and Ocean mindfulness consulting through her company, Ocean Minded (oceanminded.ca).
