Estefania is a Mexican scientist currently living in Canada. Her work regularly takes her onto cliff faces as she studies tress that our surviving in extreme environments. Her current project is trying to understand how trees that grow in fractures up on cliffs take in water, grow, and survive. Estefania is also a National Geographic explorer with a past project related to the cliff trees and an ongoing project to understand nature-human conflicts in a natural reserve in Mexico through a gender perspective. Estefania enjoys doing science outreach, outdoor sports (climbing, skiing, hiking, and occasional biking), watercolor painting, sculpting, and watching stop motion films.
