Imagine a city with flying vehicles, smart street crossings, tall and long bridges, subway trains and self-driving buses moving at high-speed. That sounds like fiction, or does it? Lina Kattan, professor of civil engineering at the University of Calgary's Schulich School of Engineering, and Director of the NSERC-CREATE Integrated Infrastructure for Sustainable Cities, explores how emerging technologies in transportation can be leveraged to improve system performance in a sustainable environment. In this session, you will learn how building-design, water and waste management, transportation and energy systems interact to build sustainable cities capable of addressing the most common urbanization problems like traffic congestion, pollution and road safety.
